Nominees confirmed to lead the sector’s next chapter in delivering the 2025-30 Skills Strategy – Skills to deliver the UK’s future

In December, the Energy & Utility Skills Partnership (EUSP) CEO Council will hold its first meeting since launching the Skills Strategy 2025–2030, during which members will vote to appoint new Council Leadership.

Bringing together chief executives and managing directors from across the energy, water, and waste industries, the Council turns shared priorities into coordinated action that shapes national policy, guides investment, and keeps skills at the heart of the UK’s clean growth and infrastructure agenda.

With a new strategy confirmed, and new leadership expected, the CEO Council will further reinforce its position as the sector’s authoritative skills voice, shaping priorities, informing government, and securing the workforce that delivers for individuals, families, communities, and industry.

The nominees for the Council’s next Chair are:

  • Nicola Connelly, Chief Executive, SP Energy Networks
  • Andrew Findlay, Chief Executive, M Group

Paul Cox, Group Chief Executive, Energy & Utility Skills, said: “December’s CEO Council meeting will be impactful for members, industry, governments, and the UK. I am delighted to have received such strong nominations from two excellent candidates, both of whom would provide leadership during a transformative time for our industry. Both nominees bring experience shaped by delivery, partnership and innovation.”
Reflecting on the role, Nicola Connelly said: “My ambition is to strengthen collaboration between industry, government and education, ensuring our collective voice influences decisions that matter from early careers to strategic workforce planning.”
Reflecting on the role, Andrew Findlay said: “I’m committed to embedding continuous professional development, accelerating reskilling for low-carbon technologies, and expanding inclusive entry routes.”

Meeting formally twice a year, the Council sets the strategic direction for skills and workforce development, focusing on outcomes delivered through the EUSP Delivery Board. Members agree critical cross-sector priorities that drive the sector forward and oversee the deployment of industry resources to achieve them. The Council also provides a forum for escalation, ensuring complex challenges are addressed collectively and with impact.
