What is the Network Construction Operations (Gas) Trainee scheme?
Network Construction Operations (Gas) Trainee registration – also known as NCO (Gas) Trainee – is based on the completion of a five-day Fundamental Safety programme and is intended to allow access to work sites for individuals new to the gas industry to facilitate the completion of a Level 1 Certificate in Network Construction Operations (Gas) available through Awarding Organisations.
A Trainee is expected to work towards and achieve the Level 1 Certificate in Network Construction Operations (Gas) which then enables individuals to progress on to registration as an NCO (Gas) Assistant.
In certain circumstances, it may be appropriate for a trainee to work directly towards the Level 2 Diploma for Service/ Mains Layer or undertake an appropriate Apprenticeship for Service/Mains Layer.
Trainee registration on EUSR is for a period of 30 months until the 30th April 2025. After this date the registration period will be 12 months and is non-renewable.
