Online Job Postings Report: Water 2023

Please see below for our summary report regarding Online Job Postings in the UK water/wastewater industry for the year ending 30 November 2023.

At a total of 15,268 job postings, there has been an 8% decrease in the sector compared to the previous year.

Of these vacancies, 572 were Apprenticeship vacancies – down from 652.

Other key findings from the report include:

• Thames Water, Mott MacDonald and Amey were the employers with the highest number of job postings during the past year.
• The Job Title with the largest number of vacancies in the past year was Project Manager (233) while the job title which saw the highest growth in job postings over the last 12 months was Ecologist (up 97%).
• Project management was the most sought-after specialist skill (2,690), while Communication skills were the most sought-after common skill (5,742) and Microsoft Excel skills were the most sought-after software skill (1,059).
• The Median advertised salary was £32,400 – down 6.4% over the previous year.
