Training for new entrants into the gas industry

New entrants into the gas industry are required to undertake an industry recognised training course before they are able to undergo assessments from the National Accredited Certification Scheme for Individual Gas Fitting Operatives to become Gas Safe registered.

The Institute for Gas Engineers and Managers IGEM/IG/1 Standards of Training in Gas Work is a crucial document that provides criteria and guidance to training providers, trainee gas engineers, and employers. This structured training ensures that individuals are capable of performing safe gas work.

IGEM/ IG/ 1 Requirements

The Standards of Training In Gas Work document outlines the criteria and guidance for training new entrants to the gas industry. See the Standards of Training In Gas Work document.

The Governance for Recognition of Training sets out the governance structure and requirements for those organisations intending to become a “Recogniser of training” or “Independent Training provider” to comply with IGEM/IG/1 Standards of training in gas work. See the Governance for recognition of training document
