Energy & Utility Skills is looking for industry representatives to help develop and review standards for the energy and utilities sector.
As the industry skills body for our sector, Energy & Utility Skills will be reviewing a range of National Occupational Standards (NOS) and Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ’s) during 2025-26. This work closely aligns with our ambition to develop a comprehensive occupational map of the energy and utilities sector, consisting of occupational profiles which will define job profiles and competency standards for key roles across the industry.
National Occupational Standards (NOS)
NOS describe what an individual needs to do and know to perform a work activity, including the skills, knowledge and understanding required. They can be used across the UK, and are fundamental in the development of qualifications, in house training programmes and apprenticeship frameworks. The following NOS suites will be under review during 2025-26:
- Water Supply Distribution – includes the maintaining of the water supply network, ensuring water distribution, pressure and quality meet industry needs.
- Leakage Detection and Control – includes the detection and control of leaks in metered areas.
- Electricity Power Network Engineer – includes the activities required to work on the electricity network assets.
Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ)
SVQ’s are work-based qualifications, based on National Occupational Standards. They work as a guarantee that someone can do their job well and to the national standards for their sector. The following SVQ’s review and development projects will take place during 2025-26:

Get Involved
To ensure the NOS and SVQ’s consider the latest innovation and working practices in the sector, and are fit for purpose, we are inviting industry representatives who understand the technical aspects of the job roles associated with the NOS and Scottish Qualifications, including employers, training providers and professional bodies, to be involved in our reviews.
Project review launch sessions are scheduled throughout August and September, which will provide an overview of the products under review, including alignment between the NOS and SVQs (where relevant), and project plans. Where possible, we have combined the NOS and SVQ launch sessions where there is dependency between the two products.
The launch sessions will then be followed by a series of industry workshops to review the products in detail. Dates for the project launch sessions are below, with all being held via MS Teams.

Adolygiad Safonau Galwedigaethol Cenedlaethol (NOS) a Chymwysterau’r Alban

Fel corff sgiliau’r diwydiant ar gyfer ein sector, bydd Sgiliau Ynni a Chyfleustodau yn adolygu nifer o Safonau Galwedigaethol Cenedlaethol (NOS) a Chymwysterau Galwedigaethol yr Alban (SVQ) yn ystod 2025-26. Mae’r gwaith hwn yn cyd-fynd yn agos â’n huchelgais i ddatblygu map galwedigaethol cynhwysfawr o’r sector ynni a chyfleustodau, sy’n cynnwys proffiliau galwedigaethol a fydd yn diffinio proffiliau swyddi a safonau cymhwysedd ar gyfer rolau allweddol ar draws y diwydiant.
Safonau Galwedigaethol Cenedlaethol (NOS)
Mae NOS yn disgrifio’r hyn y mae angen i unigolyn ei wneud a’i wybod i gyflawni gweithgaredd yn y gwaith, gan gynnwys y sgiliau, y wybodaeth a’r ddealltwriaeth sydd eu hangen. Gellir eu defnyddio ledled y DU, ac maent yn hanfodol wrth ddatblygu cymwysterau, rhaglenni hyfforddi mewnol a fframweithiau prentisiaeth. Bydd y cyfresi NOS canlynol yn cael eu hadolygu yn ystod 2025-26:
- Dosbarthu Cyflenwad Dŵr – yn cynnwys cynnal a chadw’r rhwydwaith cyflenwi dŵr, gan sicrhau bod dosbarthiad, pwysedd ac ansawdd dŵr yn diwallu anghenion y diwydiant.
- Canfod a Rheoli Gollyngiadau – yn cynnwys canfod a rheoli gollyngiadau mewn ardaloedd â mesuryddion.
- Peiriannydd Rhwydwaith Pŵer Trydan – yn cynnwys y gweithgareddau sy’n ofynnol i weithio ar asedau’r rhwydwaith trydan.

Mae SVQ yn gymwysterau seiliedig ar waith, yn seiliedig ar Safonau Galwedigaethol Cenedlaethol. Maent yn gweithio fel gwarant y gall rhywun wneud ei waith yn dda ac i’r safonau cenedlaethol ar gyfer eu sector. Bydd y prosiectau adolygu a datblygu SVQ canlynol yn digwydd yn ystod 2025-26:

Er mwyn sicrhau bod yr NOS a’r SVQ yn ystyried yr arloesedd a’r arferion gwaith diweddaraf yn y sector, ac yn addas at y diben, rydym yn gwahodd cynrychiolwyr diwydiant sy’n deall agweddau technegol y rolau swyddi sy’n gysylltiedig â’r NOS a Chymwysterau’r Alban, gan gynnwys cyflogwyr, darparwyr hyfforddiant a chyrff proffesiynol, i fod yn rhan o’n hadolygiadau.
Mae sesiynau lansio adolygiad prosiectau wedi’u trefnu drwy gydol mis Awst a mis Medi, a fydd yn rhoi trosolwg o’r cynhyrchion sy’n cael eu hadolygu, gan gynnwys aliniad rhwng y Safonau Galwedigaethol Cenedlaethol a Safonau’r Alban (SVQs) (lle bo’n berthnasol), a chynlluniau prosiect.
