Help Shape the Downstream Gas National Occupational Standards

Energy & Utility Skills has recently been appointed by Skills Development Scotland (SDS) to review the Downstream Gas National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is inviting employers, training providers and professional bodies to get involved.

National Occupational Standards (NOS) simply describe what an employee needs to do and needs to know to perform a work activity. They are subject to formal consultation and approval processes and are approved by UK government regulators.

The Downstream Gas NOS were last revised in 2017 and are currently being reviewed to ensure they reflect current working practice and technological changes, as well as considering the impact of alternative greener fuel sources. The NOS currently underpin the vocational training provisions across the UK, including the Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS).

We are keen to hear about the latest innovations and working practices in the industry, to ensure the revised NOS continue to reflect industry best practice. As such, we are pleased to advise we are running a series of online focus groups to hear feedback and thoughts on the current Downstream Gas NOS.
