Energy & Utility Skills is looking for industry representatives to help review a National Occupational Standard (NOS) suite for the power sector, which underpin overhead linesperson, cable jointer and substation fitter functions of the power sector.
NOS describe what an individual needs to do and know to perform a work activity, including the skills, knowledge and understanding required. They can be used across the UK, and are fundamental in the development of qualifications, in house training programmes and apprenticeship frameworks.
Due to industry requirements, its been identified that the following NOS suite is in need of review. This is to ensure they are fit for purpose and can be used as a benchmark for related qualification products, of which the following NOS are building blocks for:
- Electricity Plant Utilities – includes the activities required to work in a power utilities environment.
How to get involved
We are now inviting industry representatives, who understand the technical aspects of the job roles associated with the NOS (including employers, training providers and professional bodies), to register their interest in being involved in the review.
A series of workshops will soon commence to review the Power NOS, and we’re inviting individuals to attend and contribute to NOS are updated to reflect industry working practices and requirements. The first of these sessions is being held on Thursday 12 February.
