Apprenticeship Reviews Secure Extra Funding for Energy Industry

Energy & Utility Skills is delighted to announce the latest apprenticeship reviews, tailored for the energy industry, in collaboration with employers and the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE). This involved meticulous data collection and evidence gathering to optimize government funding for these apprenticeships.

IfATE and Energy & Utility Skills have worked together to update the Gas Engineering Operative apprenticeship, and the Dual Fuel Smart Meter Installer apprenticeship, ensuring that apprentices have the latest skills required by industry upon completion.

Employers will be pleased to learn that both apprenticeships now qualify for increased funding. The 18-month Gas Engineering Operative apprenticeship funding is now £23,000, and the 14-month Dual Fuel Smart Meter Installer apprenticeship now attracts funding of £12,000.

Phil Beach, CEO of Energy & Utility Skills, said, “Securing increased funding for these apprenticeships is a fantastic achievement that employers will welcome. As the leading advocate for skills in the energy and utilities industries, this highlights the impact we are having, on behalf of industry, in meeting employers’ needs. In collaboration with IfATE, we have further developed these apprenticeships to deliver the knowledge, skills, and behaviours essential for these safety-critical roles.
