Next steps for technical education in England – T-levels, functional skills and the Post-16 transition year

This timely seminar will assess next steps for technical education in England.
It is bringing together stakeholders with key policymakers to examine central themes that have emerged from responses to the Government’s consultation on the implementation of T-levels and the wider reformed technical education system.
Delegates will also discuss preparations for the first three T-level programmes – Digital, Construction, and Education and Childcare – which are due to be taught from 2020.
There will be keynote contributions from Lucy Sydney, Director of Strategic Relationships for VTQ, Ofqual and Susan Lovelock, Deputy Director, Technical Education Implementation Division, Department for Education. Officials have also registered to attend from DCMS; Defra; Department for Education; DIT; DWP; Government Legal Department; MoD; MoJ; National Crime Agency; Ofsted and the Welsh Government.
The agenda also includes sessions on:
- The view from the DfE on priorities for technical education in England;
- The future position of ‘functional skills’ and key issues surrounding a Post-16 transition year;
- Quality and standards of Post-16 qualifications; and
- Parity of esteem: will the T-levels deliver?
