A water process operative carries out operations in a clean water or wastewater treatment facility to ensure water safety. In both environments they operate treatment work assets and take, monitor, record and interpret water samples to ensure treatment processes are working effectively.
Gateway Requirements
There are two pathways within the occupation:
- Clean water process operative
- Wastewater process operative
Gateway Requirements
- The employer must be content that the apprentice is working at or above the occupational standard
- Achieved English and maths qualifications in line with the apprenticeship funding rules
- A portfolio to underpin the interview
The Assessment
- Observation with questions (4 hours, minimum 8 questions, undertaking work as part of their normal duties)
- Interview underpinned by portfolio (60 minutes, minimum 9 questions)
- Multiple-choice test (60 minutes, 40 questions)
Overall Grading
- Fail, Pass, Distinction
