A Gas Engineering Operative is in charge of installing and maintaining gas appliances in a domestic or non-domestic setting, advising customers on how appliances work and how to use energy more efficiently.
Gateway Requirements
- The stage of the apprenticeship where the apprentice, employer and training provider determine whether the apprentice is ready to undertake end-point assessment
- Apprentices must have compiled and submitted a work log book of evidence to underpin the technical interview
- Apprentices must have achieved English and Mathematics at Level 2 or higher
- Proof of Gas Safe® registration certification for a minimum of four appliances
The Assessment
- Portfolio assessment: The portfolio must incorporate and the elements must be undertaken in this order:
- Gas Safe® registration for a minimum of four appliances (before gateway)
- Competency test (practical assessment)
- Work log review (work log typically developed during the apprenticeship)
- Interview based on the Work Log (1 hour, a set of 10 open questions will be asked. Additional follow up questions are allowed, to seek clarification)
- Knowledge assessment (40 questions, 1 hour). Important Note: Only ONE re-sit allowed.
