Our Capabilities and Capacity

Extensive capabilities, networks and relationships within the sector and UK Government, coupled with practical delivery mechanisms.

Capabilities and Reach

Energy & Utility Skills Group has extensive capabilities, networks and relationships spanning members, training providers, regulators, industry bodies and the UK Government, providing a unique platform to connect workforce needs with policy, funding and delivery.

This ability to convene and influence ensures that skills planning, and workforce development remain aligned with both industry priorities and government objectives.

We also deliver practical mechanisms to strengthen the sector’s reputation and attract new talent. The Energy Utilities Careers & Jobs (EUC&J) service enhances visibility and recruitment, while the specialist awarding organisation for the energy and utilities industries, Energy & Environment Awards, delivers regulated qualifications and provides end-point assessment services for apprentices, ensuring that skills development is both rigorous and industry-approved.

Our capabilities

A four-nation approach

To ensure we’re effective across all of the UK, we continue to take a proactive and engaged approach with each of the four nations.

We’re actively working to shape and influence skills policy across the devolved administrations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. By deepening our existing relationships with skills agencies in each nation, this strategy will ensure that our work is aligned with national skills policies, apprenticeship reforms and regional workforce planning.

We are also committed to proactively influencing the UK Government’s evolving policy landscape in England. As the government moves to devolve skills delivery to mayoralties and strategic authorities, we will work directly with these bodies. Our goal is to ensure that these changes enhance the national skills framework and fully represent the sector’s needs, rather than creating a fragmented system.
