On 10 July 2024, Energy & Utility Skills held the inaugural meeting of the Water Competence & Skills Steering Group.
This new group is dedicated to addressing the evolving skills and competence needs within the water industry and will focus on supporting the successful delivery of AMP 8 and future initiatives.
The meeting was attended by 20 members of Energy & Utility Skills, including representatives from 17 water companies and 3 contractors. This participation highlights the collective commitment to advancing industry standards and enhancing workforce capabilities.
The Group’s initial efforts will centre on implementing the recommendations from the Workforce Resilience Research published in February 2024. This comprehensive research, accessible to members here, offers valuable insights and actionable strategies for boosting workforce resilience and skill development within the sector. It will also guide the analysis of the broader water industry stakeholder environment and support occupational mapping.
Energy & Utility Skills wishes to thank all attendees for their valuable contributions in setting the purpose and direction of the Group.
Water companies and industry contractors interested in participating in the Group are encouraged to contact Steve Barrett, Director of Membership and Strategic Engagement.
